Your opinion
becomes a position.
Every market asks a simple yes-or-no question about a real-world event — a game, an election, the weather, a price level. You choose YES or NO based on what you think will happen, and the price moves as more people trade.
Kalshi states that a contract is worth $1 if it’s correct, and $0 if it isn’t. Exact settlement depends on each market’s specific rules, so it’s worth reading them before you trade.

Market settles
Each market has defined settlement rules and an official outcome source. Settlement depends on those rules.
A price is
a point of view.
A YES contract trading at 67¢ can be read as roughly a 67% market-implied probability — the collective view of everyone currently trading that market.
That price reflects the balance of buyers and sellers at this moment. It is not a guarantee of the outcome, and it moves as new information arrives and traders act on it.

A different kind
of market.
Federally regulated
Kalshi is regulated by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and operates as a Designated Contract Market (DCM).
Real event contracts
Traders take positions on contracts tied to clearly defined real-world outcomes, not abstract instruments.
Defined settlement rules
Each market publishes rules that specify exactly how and when its outcome is determined.
Market-driven pricing
Contract prices move as participants buy and sell and as new information enters the market.
Regulation and defined rules do not mean trading is safe from loss. Contract prices can move against a position, and it is possible to lose the amount put at risk on a trade.
